Spanish La Liga Report: Real Madrid v Rayo Vallecano 20 December 2015

Spanish La Liga

Result: Real Madrid 10-2 Rayo Vallecano

Date: 20 December 2015

Venue: Santiago Bernabeu

It was goals galore as Real Madrid ran riot in their 10-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano in an entertaining Spanish La Liga clash.

It did not take long for the hosts to grab the lead as Danilo sent the crowd into rapture with a well taken strike after only three minutes of play. The match was proving to be rather exciting in the opening exchanges  and Antonio Amaya Carazo stepped up to draw the visitors level with a header in the 10th minute, 1-1.

The crowd was shocked two minutes later as Jozabed Sanchez Ruiz turned things around with a clean header, putting Rayo Vallecano in the lead.

The match was seemingly providing the crowd with entertainment of the highest order as the visitors' Roberto Roman Triguero saw red in the 14th minute, advantage Real Madrid.

Real Madrid then did well to gain control of the encounter as the half progressed, and Gareth Bale tied things up in the 25th minute with a precise header after being spotted by Danilo in the danger area.

With Madrid smelling blood, Rayo seemed to be struggling to keep up with the pressure and Jose Raul Baena Urdiales found himself on the receiving end of a second yellow card in the 28th minute after conceding a penalty, leaving Rayo with nine players. Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up to expertly slot the penalty into the back of the net to put Madrid 3-2 ahead.

It was all Madrid in the closing stages of the first half, and after a string of attacks, Bale added a fourth in the 41st minute with a powerful shot into the corner. There was still time for more as Karim Benzema did well to pick his spot and coolly converting to extend Real's lead to 5-2 at the break.

The second half started with Madrid gaining control of the game once more, and Ronaldo did well to rise above the rest, planting a James Rodriguez cross into the back of the net, 6-2 after fifty-three minutes of play.

It was always going to be difficult for the visitors to hold their own two players down, and just under ten minutes later the scoreboard was ticking once more after Bale did well to convert a James Rodriguez cross, 7-2.

The Welshman was making it look very easy as he rocked up for his fourth of the night, and Real Madrid's eighth in the 70th minute. Rafa Benitez's men were looking a class above their opponents, and Frenchman Benzema was at the end of a Modric through-ball, 9-2.

The hosts were not satisfied, as they continued to push forward for more goals, finally hitting double figures right on the stroke of full-time after Rayo failed to clear the ball, leading to Benzema striking the ball past the 'keeper from just inside the box, 10-2.

And finally the referee ended Rayo Vallecano's misery by signalling full-tme with Madrid taking it 10-2.
