Result: Celta Vigo 1-4 Real Madrid
Date: 17 May 2017
Venue: Balaídos
Real Madrid moved closer to securing the La Liga title, after Cristiano Ronaldo netted a brace to inspire Los Blancos to a 4-1 win over Celta Vigo.
Los Blancos broke the deadlock after nine minutes as Ronaldo created some space on the edge of the box and fired home past Sergio Alvarez.
Celta carved out their first opening after 14 minutes when Jonny's deflected effort from close range was saved by Keylor Navas.
Navas came to Real's rescue again in the 34th minute as he produced a superb save to keep out Daniel Wass' free-kick.
Despite the good start by Zinedine Zidane's charges, they struggled to carve out chances for the remainder of the first half.
Real eventually doubled their lead two minutes into the second half when Ronaldo grabbed his second after collecting a pass from Isco.
Celta's task was made even tougher after 61 minutes when Iago Aspas was sent off for a second bookable offence.
However, the home side did pull a goal back in the 70th minute as John Guidetti fired a deflected effort past Navas, who was helpless.
Celta's joy was short lived as Real restored their two-goal lead a minute later as Karim Benzema turned home Marcelo's low cross.
With Real comfortably leading, Zidane withdrew Ronaldo and Isco for Marcos Asensio and Lucas Vazquez in the 84th minute.
Los Blancos then grabbed a fourth goal in the 87th minute as Toni Kroos showed great composure to slot into the bottom corner from 12-yards out.
The victory sees Real move top of the table, three points ahead of FC Barcelona heading into the final round of matches this weekend.
