Bayern Munich's Jerome Boateng became the latest footballer to be caught going against government advice after crashing his BMW this week.
The 2014 FIFA World Cup winner drove from Munich to Leipzig to see his sick son, but had an accident on a snowy road and has since been fined by his club.
"I accept every fine in the world if it's justified," he told BILD.
"And I know that it was certainly a mistake not to let the club know about my trip, but at that moment I was just thinking about my son.
"His health was not good. When a son calls his father, of course, I'll still go, no matter what time.
"I accept every fine for him, after all, that's my son.
"I want to see the father who doesn't leave in such a moment to be with his four-year-old son. I think it's sad."

Boateng, though, is not the only footballer to have broken quarantine rules, with Aston Villa's Jack Grealish also making similar headlines over the weekend.
The 24-year-old was allegedly involved in a motor vehicle accident with two parked cars on the way to visit a friend. While it has not been confirmed whether or not Grealish indeed drove the car, he has since apologised for breaking quarantine rules in England.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid's Luka Jovic angered the president of his home country after leaving Madrid, despite the squad being placed under 14-day self-isolation, to travel to Serbia.
Reports suggest that he did so in order to attend his girlfriend's birthday party, leading to Serbia president Aleksandar Vucic stating that the striker could end up in jail for his actions.
