Orlando Pirates have released a statement regarding Kermit Erasmus' shock transfer to Stade Rennais.
The striker's move to Stade Rennais was confirmed on Thursday night, and the club have released a statement on their official website.
"In a sequence of events that started with ?a request by Kermit Erasmus for compassionate leave to accompany his Dutch wife to Holland to attend to a family matter, Orlando Pirates is now formally announcing that Kermit has joined Stade Rennais FC in Ligue 1 in France.
"Whereas the Orlando Pirates management were not keen on losing Kermit, due consideration was taken to the fact that only six months remained in his contract with the club.
"A counter balance between the player's interest, especially his state of mind, and the club's interests were weighed. It was decided that Kermit be afforded an opportunity to fly both the Orlando Pirates and South African flags in a top world league.
"We wish him the best in all his future endeavours."
