Maritzburg United Could Make History v Mamelodi Sundowns

History could be made this weekend as Maritzburg United face Mamelodi Sundowns in the Telkom Knockout final, but Team of Choice know it won't be easy against 'the best in South Africa'.

Maritzburg are into the final of the TKO for the first time since they were formed, and go into the game high on confidence having already dispatched league leaders, Kaizer Chiefs, in the semi-finals of the competition.

Facing Masandawana will be a different beast though according to Nazeer Allie, and the 34-year-old defender believes that it will be about desire on the day when the two teams lock horns at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

Speaking to the club's official website, the club captain said, "We know Sundowns are a very good team, the best in South Africa, that's why they have been playing in the Champions League… We'll have our plan on the day, but in a final it can go either way. So we have to go out there and enjoy it and give our all.

"It's 50/ 50 on the day – it's about who wants it more, who can come up with individual brilliance, who can take their chances. Who's prepared to go that extra mile and put their bodies on the line."

The experienced defender also said that he wants to get a result for the loyal fans in Pietermaritzburg, adding, "I want to be part of the history at Maritzburg United, so hopefully we can do that on Saturday.

"It will be a great achievement for the club, and also for the fans, who come week-in, week-out supporting us. So we will be grateful to give them a cup on Saturday."

Maritzburg face Sundowns at 18h00 on Saturday night, with both teams desperate to add a trophy to their cabinet before 2019 is over.
