Luka Modric
La Liga Result: Granada 1-2 Real Madrid Date: 7 February 2016 Venue: Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes A late winner from Luka Modric helped Real Madrid clinch all three points at Granada on Sunday night. Los Blancos should have taken the lead in the 13th minute when a cross from James found Cristiano Ronaldo, but he couldn't connect properly with the ball. The Portuguese had another chance shortly thereafter as Luka Modric played him through on the left side of the box, but his attempt at goal went just wide of the post. Granada somehow survived another scare in the 25th minute. Modric produced a cross that looked destined for Ronaldo who was in position to score but Lomban made a vital interception. The visitors finally found the breakthrough in the 30th minute. Carvajal pierced the left flank and crossed for Karim Benzema who had an easy tap-in, unmarked inside the box. Benzema should have made it 2-0 after the break when he beat the offside trap but he sent his shot just wide of the target. Granada squared matters on the hour mark when Youssef El-Arabi latched onto an incisive pass from Rochina to finish under the body of Navas. Real got their winning strike in the 85th minute. Modric thumped the ball home with a superb strike from the edge of the area to snatch the points late-on.
Elsewhere, Celta de Vigo drew 1-1 with Sevilla, and Betis beat Valencia 1-0.
