Suarez Hat-Trick Fires Barca To La Liga Glory Los Blancos were off to the perfect start as they took the lead in only the seventh minute. Karim Benzema crossed towards the far post where Cristiano Ronaldo was on hand to steer home a low finish.
The visitors took control of the tie after opening the scoring and doubled their lead in the 25th minute as Ronaldo completed his brace. The goal came under controversial circumstances as the Portuguese headed home a corner kick after Arribas was already down following a push from Gareth Bale. Benzema came close to scoring as well. The Frenchman directed a good shot on target but Pletikosa made the save, turning it around the post for a corner kick. Ronaldo was in the thick of it again as he shaved the top of the bar with a stinging drive from the left channel after Marcelo picked him out with a pass. Real looked comfortable with their two-goal cushion at the break and were not really threatened after the interval as the game slowed down. Just past the hour mark Sidnei came close for the hosts as he sent a half-volley just past the post via a deflection that had Navas scrambling between the sticks. Pletikosa was a busy man again in the 78th minute as he was called upon to make a double save, keeping out Carvajal twice. However, Real cruised to three points in the end.
