Former Real Madrid and Brazil midfielder Kaka says winning the FIFA Ballon D'Or proves that he was once better than Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Kaka Reveals He Was Close To Career Ending Injury
The Brazilian became a record signing for a short period following his move to Real Madrid, before the club decided to splash £80 million on Ronaldo 48 hours later.
Kaka revealed that he was proud of beating the likes of Ronaldo and Messi to the Ballon d'Or, it also proved to him that he could compete with the best.
"I won the Ballon d'Or and World Player of Year against Cristiano and Messi," Kaka said in an interview with the Daily Mail.
"They win it every year now, but I could beat them back then. For me that's important because I had the best opponents. I'm proud when I see that."
When asked if Ronaldo is the best in the world, or if he had every learnt from playing alongside him, Kaka had no problem answering:
"I definitely think so," he added.
"It was great having him as a team-mate., I learnt a lot of things from him, every day I stuck with him and saw how he trained, how he played and it helped me a lot.
"We had a great relationship off the pitch in Spain, we still have a very good one.
"I'm so happy that he could win the Ballon d'Or at Real Madrid. He really deserved that, he is a special player."
Kaka made 120 appearances for Real Madrid and scored 29 goals, while assisting in a further 39.
