Bundesliga leaders, Bayern Munich were left frustrated, after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Schalke at the Allianz Arena.
Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring as early as the ninth minute for Bayern Munich. Arturo Vidal teed up The striker lifted the ball over the goalkeeper to make it 1-0 to Bayern.
Schalke restored parity soon two minutes later as Naldo bent in a fantastic free-kick beating Neuer at the near post, 1-1.
The free-kick was touched short for Naldo to hammer and he connected brilliantly with the ball to bring Schalke back into the game.
The match went into the half-time break at 1-1. Schalke recovered quickly after going a goal down early and grew from strength to strength since. Both the teams had chances to go ahead but it was not be.
In the 53rd minute Caligiuri had the ball in the back of the net but unfortunately he was quickly ruled out to be offside, marginally.
The game was evening out with both teams going at each other with the intentions to score. Schalke were in most occasions looking to capitalise on the counter-attacks.
Following the disallowed goal, Schalke had a good spell inter-changing passes in the final third.
However the intensity of the game was slowing down as both teams started to become cautious in the attacks and not committing many bodies forward.
In the last ten minutes Bayern were applying the pressure looking for a winner and they nearly snatched a goal five minutes from time when Xabi Aonso struck the crossbar.
However, Schalke managed to see off a late surge from the Bundesliga leaders to claim an impressive point on the road.
