Result: Bayern Munich 1-0 Darmstadt

Date: 06 May 2017

Venue: Allianz Arena

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich were made to work hard for three points, as they recorded a slim 1-0 win over Darmstadt on Saturday afternoon.

In the ninth minute the Bavarians carved out a chance through Rafinha. The midfielder cut on his right foot after receiving a cross from Franck Ribery and let fly with a shot that hit the side netting.

The Bavarians eventually broke the deadlock in the 18th minute as Fracnk Ribery picked out Juan Bernat, who fired home from close range, 1-0.

The away side could not deal with the pressure coming from the Bavarians and were struggling to get out of their own half.

In the 31st minute Thomas Muller tested goalkeeper Michael Esser with a right footed shot from just outside the box, but the shot-stopper was equal to the effort.

The visitors started to come out of their half  in the closing stages of the half and were disrupting the momentum that was held by the Bavarians.

The match went into the break with the Bavarians holding a 1-0 slender lead.

In the 55th minute Darmstadt took off Felix Platte and brought in Sven Schipplock as they pushed for an equaliser.

Schipplock almost made the perfect impact in the 65th minute, but his goal was flagged offside by the assistant referee.

Robert Lewandowski was denied by Esser after 71 minutes, as the shot-stopper produced a fine save to keep out the striker's close range effort.

Ribery missed a golden in the 80th minute opportunity after the Frenchman failed to connect with Thomas Muller's cross in the six-yard box.

However in the 85th minute goalscorer Bernat conceded a penalty after bringing down Schipplock inside the box.

Former Bayern midfielder, Hamit Altintop stepped up but had his penalty saved by Tom Starke, as Bayern held on for three points.
