Former Al Ahly captain Shady Mohamed has lauded the club's 'genius' decision to bring in Pitso Mosimane, who he feels will make history.
Mosimane joined Al Ahly in 2020 and has gone on to win four trophies at the club, including a second CAF Champions League title last season.
The Red Devils are 90 minutes away from reaching yet another Champions League final as they hold a 1-0 lead over Esperance heading into the second leg on Saturday.
The former Al Ahly defender spoke highly of the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach and claims his target is to win the FIFA Club World Cup.
"Mosimane is a great coach and the decision to choose him was genius. He was the most adequate option available back at the time," Mohamed told Al Ahly TV.
"He [Mosimane] arrived at Al Ahly knowing how valuable the club is while being very familiar to the atmosphere in Africa.
"He will make history with time. His ambition is to win the Club World Cup."
The Red Devils host Esperance at the WE Al-Ahly Stadium knowing a win or a draw will secure their spot in a second successive Champions League final.
