Fernando Torres Set Join AC Milan On A Permanent Basis

On-loan Chelsea striker, Fernando Torres, will join AC Milan permanently ahead of his expected loan move to Atletico Madrid.

Torres has scored one goal during his loan spell with the Serie A outfit and reports suggested that he wanted a move away from the San Siro.

However, it has now emerged that Torres will be returning to his boyhood club, Atletico, on a 18-month loan deal, once his move from Chelsea to Milan is made permanent.

Sky Sports' Spanish football expert, Guillem Balague, confirmed that the deal will be announced on 5 January 2015 and will also Atletico's Alessio Cerci spend a season on loan with Milan.

"He is going to AC Milan - it will be announced on the 5 January. But around that time it will also be announced that he will be going on loan to Atletico, for perhaps 18 months, that's what I'm hearing.

"The reason why everything is being done this way is that they (Atletico) did not have the money to get Torres transfered but they will have him on loan.

"AC Milan will be happy to have Cerci on loan. So what is eventually going to be is a swap of loan deals. Cerci is going to go Milan, and Torres is going to go to Atletico.

"Torres is a legend there - he was at Atletico for seven seasons, five of them as captain of the team. When he left he said 'I will come back'. For him I think it will help him rediscover his love of football."
