There are a few sons of famous footballing fathers taking part in this year's 2018 FIFA World Cup, with one of them even representing a different country to the one his World Cup-winning dad played for.

Thiago Alcantara has made two appearances for Spain at Russia 2018 so far, following in the footsteps of his famous father Mazinho. Strangely, though, Thiago has decided to represent La Furia Roja, for whom he qualifies after living in Barcelona for more than five years, while his father ran out for Brazil and was part of the Selecao team that lifted the trophy in 1994.
Denmark's Kasper Schmeichel faced 1998 winners France in their final Group C clash on Tuesday afternoon and followed in his father's footsteps by qualifying for the round of 16. Back in 1998, Denmark reached the quarter-final, their best ever result in their World Cup history, with Peter Schmeichel in goal.
With his goal against South Korea, Mexico's Javier Hernandez became the first Mexican to score in three different World Cups, and the 30-year-old will be keen to help his side make it out of the group stage for a seventh straight tournament. His father, Javier Hernandez Gutierrez, though, managed to reach the quarter-finals with Mexico when they hosted the 1986 World Cup.
