Former Spain international Guti began playing for Real's youth academy in 1986, where he was converted from a striker to a midfielder.

The Spanish superstar renowned for his passing ability made his first-team debut in December 1995, and would go on to make 541 more appearances for the club to cement his legendary status at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Having played alongside the likes of Michael Laudrup, Clarence Seedorf, Fernando Redondo, Claude Makelele, David Beckham and Sergio Ramos during his trophy-laden time at Real, the three-time UEFA Champions League winner was recently given the task of naming two dream teams – one squad consisting of past players and the other featuring players who are still currently active in the game.

The Besiktas assistant coach sat down with well-known Spanish publication Marca and revealed his preferred dream XI consisting of past players he played with or against, in a 4-3-3 formation.

Iker Casillas, Real's most capped player with 741 appearances in all competitions, was selected as the man between the sticks.

In defence, Guti went with AC Milan and Inter Milan legends Paolo Maldini and Javier Zanetti respectively, while the two other slots were occupied by legendary Real duo Fernando Hierro and Roberto Carlos.

Three midfielders were deployed in the engine room, with Guti selecting himself alongside 1998 FIFA World Cup winner Zinedine Zidane and Portugal legend Luis Figo.

Five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo is the only person on the list who is still currently active in the game, and he was selected alongside Raul Gonzalez and Ronaldo Nazario.
