Veteran goal-getter Claudio Pizarro struck the only goal of the game as Bayern Munich defeated Mexican side CD Guadalajara 1-0 on Thursday night.
The game was played at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey and expectedly dominated by Bayern.
In the sixth friendly match of the summer, Pep Guardiola was still missing a host of his World Cup stars and started a fairly young squad around stars like Javi Martinez, David Alaba, Franck Ribery and Robert Lewandowski.
The game was tight and evenly-matched for long spells as Bayern were pushed hard by their agile and energetic Mexican opponents.
But the ruthless Europeans converted their first scoring opportunity when Pizarro glanced home Franck Ribery's tenth-minute corner.
Pizarro had two more chances and Ribery, who played behind the strikers – with Lewandowski next to Pizarro – looked very lively.
However, the game went with the 1-0 into half-time and lost its flow after the break because the Mexicans switched out almost their entire starting XI and Bayern's legs grew heavier.
Guardiola gave his Swiss World Cup star, Xerdan Shaqiri, his first minutes in the second half and Ribery came closest to doubling the lead.
But the German giants ultimately had keeper Tom Starke to thank for salvaging the prestigious win with a superb save after 81 minutes.
Bayern next play the MLS Allstars on 7 August before facing Borussia Dortmund in the German Super Cup.
