Bundesliga Report: Mainz 0-3 Bayern Munich 26 September 2015
Bayern Munich bolstered their place at the top of the Bundesliga with a 3-0 victory over Mainz on Saturday afternoon.   The German giants started the game positively and were awarded a penalty in the 19th minute when De Blasis tripped Alaba in the area, giving Thomas Muller a chance from the spot. However, the usually reliable Muller sent his penalty flying over the bar.   Yoshinori Muto had an excellent chance to give the hosts the lead in the 29th minute as he unleashed a shot from 12 yards out, but he fired it into the side netting instead.   The opener arrived six minutes into the second half as the in-form Robert Lewandowski nodded home a terrific cross from Kingsley Coman at the far post.    In the 63rd minute the Polish striker was at it again as he completed his brace. Lewandowski put himself in the right position and stroked home from close range to give the hosts a two-goal lead.   The second goal seemed to knock the stuffing out of Mainz. Bayern secured the three points in the 68th minute when Costa surged towards the byline before cutting the ball back for Coman to tap into the back of the net.   Christian Clemens almost pulled one back for the home team in the 75th minute as he rattled the woodwork with a stinging shot that got the best of Manuel Neuer.
