Bandile Shandu Wants Maritzburg United To Fight v Mamelodi Sundowns

Maritzburg United are well aware of the task that awaits them in tomorrow's Telkom Knockout final, but one of their local lads thinks they can beat Mamelodi Sundowns.

Bandile Shandu, who came through the youth academy at Maritzburg before making his debut in 2013, and now the 24-year-old has gone on to become a key figure for his hometown club having played over 100 games in their colours.

Shandu has played in all three games for the Team of Choice in their march to the 2019 TKO final, and will be hoping for a happy fourth appearance on Saturday evening if he's given the nod by Eric Tinkler to face Masandawana at Moses Mabhida Stadium in his home province.

Speaking to Maritzburg's official website ahead of the game, the midfield man said, "With the quality and experience Sundowns have, whether it's the starting line-up or the bench, it's about us working hard, and working together as a team. In order to beat them, you've got to win the individual clashes and work harder than them."

Meanwhile, the Pietermaritzburg-born midfielder also urged their fans to make the trip to Moses Mabhida, pleaded, "Please carry on coming in numbers, we will work very hard to give something back to the fans – they truly, truly deserve it, the way they stuck by us last season. To give them this silverware would mean a huge amount to them."

Maritzburg face Sundowns at 18h00 tomorrow evening as they aim for the first major trophy in the club's history.
