AmaZulu Appoint Ayanda Dlamini As Their Head Coach

Having successfully managed to avoid relegation at the end of the 2019/20 season, AmaZulu have started preparing for the new season by confirming their head coach as a first step.

Following a season from which they have been struggling at the bottom of the log under previous coaches Cavin Johnson and Jozef Vukusic respectively, the club has escaped relegation under Ayanda Dlamini and his assistant Moeneeb Josephs, with the team finishing in 13th place on the log after a tough season.

AmaZulu general manager, Lunga Sokhela, has confirmed today in a virtual press conference for the club that Dlamini has been appointed as head coach on a three-year contract. 

Dlamini has been in charge since March – having taken over from Vukusic whom the Durban-based club had put on special leave – and in his first match in charge, the former striker pulled off a massive 1-0 win against Kaizer Chiefs who were the log leaders at the time.

The victory instilled a lot of confidence in the team in their fight against relegation, which led to club management allowing Dlamini to continue in the role, after terminating Vukusic's contract last month.

In seven matches in charge, Dlamini has led Usuthu to two wins, four draws and only one loss.
