The Spanish international signed a five-year-deal with the 2016/17 Premier League champions last week after completing a £67 million (R1.1 billion) transfer from Real Madrid.
The 24-year-old has now told the Blues' official television station that he used to follow the side closely when he was a youngster and that he was inspired by the likes of Drogba, Andriy Shevchenko and fellow countryman Fernando Torres.
"When I was little I watched with my dad and it is incredible, a lot of goals and fast matches, and I really want to play here," Morata said, as quoted by the Daily Mirror.
"When I was little I saw Didier Drogba, Andriy Shevchenko, Fernando Torres and then I thought probably in a few years I will take this place, and now it is the dream to take the Chelsea No. 9 shirt. I can't wait to play at Stamford Bridge and in the Premier League."
Morata made 95 appearances in his two senior stints with Real Madrid, scoring 31 goals in all competitions.
