Nothing To Prove: Motshwari On Facing Pirates

Ben Motshwari says there will be no love lost between himself and his former side Orlando Pirates when they face off in the Nedbank Cup quarter finals this weekend.

Motshwari spent five years at the Buccaneers, so it would be expected that there is some sentiment between the midfield hardman and his former club.

But Motshwari says he has shifted all of his focus to Usuthu, where he has spent the past year and does not dwell too much on facing his former employers.

"Honestly speaking, I don't really think about it," he told journalists at the Nedbank Cup media day in Durban.

"You know, my focus is here at AmaZulu you know what we can do right, what we can prove. You know, we're not going there to pinpoint individuals. They've got a huge squad, anyone can play, anyone is capable of winning games for them, and I believe that we also have our own players. Lately we've been struggling to score, but you know, we're trying to change our luck day by day we're training.

"Honestly, I don't want to dwell too much about that, the past is the past. I've been there, played there for them. The team has changed now you know, the personnel has changed, but knowing them, I don't think their style of play has changed that much. Certainly, there's certain individuals who came in and had a little bit of flair, you know. But we also have our own players, you know, who can make a difference in this game. And like I said, it's a cup game anyone can win it, you know, and we're not gonna settle for sitting at the back and then trying to see what they're going to do to hurt us, we would love to go to them as well and try to win the match," he continued.
