In opening up on his plans for his future, South African coach Benni McCarthy has hinted at why he turned down a job offer at AmaZulu.
After parting ways with Pablo Franco Martin, Usuthu, according to reports, made McCarthy their priority, with a job offer to return to the club after his first spell between December 2020 and March 2022.
However, the Bafana Bafana all-time leading goalscorer is understood to have turned down the opportunity to return to KwaZulu-Natal, despite the fact that he is unattached after leaving Manchester United, following the expiry of his contract in June.

The 46-year-old mentor, who was linked with a coaching post at Mamelodi Sundowns and an unnamed club in the Major League Soccer (MLS) when asked where does he see himself in the next five years, indicated that he only has ambitions of coaching a big club in Africa, the MLS or Bafana Bafana.
"Coaching, not sure... MLS team or one of the top continent's teams or maybe a national team, South Africa," McCarthy said on On The Whistle Podcast YouTube Channel.
"I was close to saying maybe Man United, who knows? But no," the former Porto and Blackburn Rovers striker said.

McCarthy went on and explained how he used to get the best out of the players he coached at unfancied teams at Cape Town City where he won the MTN8 and Usuthu, where he helped the club qualify for the CAF Champions League group stages for the first time after they finished second on the Premiership standings.
"I made them believe that they were better than the players playing for the biggest teams. Everyday you work on improving their technical abilities, the finer details, you do things that they were not accustomed to when they played under other managers," McCarthy said.
"We were playing to be successful, so you can go play for the Al Ahlys, the Sundowns, the results were coming for us. If the players were fortunate to get the contracts of the Sundowns and Al Ahlys, brilliant, because now you get to change your life," the former Man United striker coach added.
AmaZulu have since appointed Vusumuzi Vilakazi and Arthur Zwane as co-coaches.
