UEFA President: Incident With African Can't Happen To Lionel Messi

Can you imagine FC Barcelona reaching the UEFA Champions League final, but Lionel Messi or Neymar not being allowed to travel? The new UEFA president now warned football about this scenario, which recently happened to an African.

Paris Saint-Germain right-back Serge Aurier was recently prohibited from entering the UK due to an ongoing court case in France and couldn't partake in a Champions Leagge group stage clash with Arsenal.

Messi and Neymar, who both also have open tax cases, could experience a similar scenario. This year's final is being hosted in Cardiff and although Barcelona are unlikely to make after losing their last-16 first leg to PSG 4-0, UEFA's new president warned of Brexit implications for football.

"If 'Brexit' happens, everything changes," Aleksander Ceferin told The New York Times.

"But football was played before, and it will be played in the future. Now, with free movement in the European Union, it is much better.

"I was very disappointed when Aurier, from PSG, was not allowed to enter England.

"That will worsen when Brexit happens, especially if the reasons were as formal. We could have a serious problem.

"If we see that players cannot enter because they have any sort of procedure ongoing, then we will simply think if we should play our European matches there.

"Neymar and Lionel Messi both have (tax evasion) procedures going on. This year, the Champions League final is in Cardiff. Imagine if they did not let them in.

"That is a big thing for us, if players from England can travel anywhere but players from other teams cannot travel to England. With free movement in Europe, it is much better."
