UEFA Champions League Report: Galatasaray 0-2 Atletico 15 September 2015
UEFA Champions League - Group C   Result: Galatasaray 0-2 Atletico   Date: 15 September 2015   Venue: Turk Telekom Arena   Atletico Madrid put in a professional performance on the road as they beat Galatasaray 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.   The Spanish outfit were ahead after 18 minutes as Antoine Griezmann opened the scoring. Juanfran provided the cross towards the edge of the area and the French striker smashed the ball first-time, finding the bottom corner of the goal.   Seven minutes later Griezmann bagged his brace as the visitors took control of proceedings. Koke crossed towards the far post where Godin knocked it back for Griezmann who was perfectly placed to send the ball flying into the back of the net from close range.   Galatasaray were unlucky not to pull one back four minutes before the break when Umut Bulut beat Godin to send a glancing header towards goal but saw it go just wide of the post with the goalkeeper well beaten.   Lukas Podolski should have done better for the hosts five minutes into the second half when Denayer layed it up for him to strike from 20 yards out. The German badly misqueued the ball to send it well wide of the target.   The hosts continued putting the Colchoneros under pressure but they remained disciplined in defence and weathered the storm to pick up three valuable points in Istanbul.
