Result: CSKA Moscow 1-1 Manchester United
Date: 21 October 2015
Venue: Arena Khimki
Anthony Martial's second-half header earned Manchester United a 1-1 draw with CSKA Moscow in their Champions League tie on Tuesday night.
Red Devils manager, Louis Van Gaal, handed starts to Jesse Lingard and Antonio Valencia in place of Juan Mata and Matteo Darmian.
United dictated play for most of the opening exchanges, although they failed to create anything in the final third.
The home side were awarded a penalty in the 15th minute when Martial appeared to have handled the ball in the box, however David De Gea saved Roman Eremenko's penalty, before Seydou Doubmia fired home the rebound.
De Gea was called into action in the 31st minute as the United shot-stopper pulled off a fine finger-tip save to keep out Ahmed Musa's stinging effort.
Despite United seeing most of the ball, CSKA went into the halftime break leading the English outfit.
Van Gaal decided to change things at the start of the second half, as he introduced Maroune Fellaini with the hope of grabbing an equaliser.
Wayne Rooney came close to leveling matters for United in the 58th minute but his effort from distance was saved by Akinfeev.
However, United did secure the equaliser in the 65th minute, as Anthony Martial lost his marker to head home Antonio Valencia's cross from the right flank.
United pushed for the winner in the remaining 25 minutes, but even the introduction of Memphis Depay could not help the visitors secure their second win of the group stage campaign.
The draw sees Van Gaal's charges remain in second spot in Group B, while CSKA are unchanged in third spot.
