UEFA Champions League
Result: Bayer Leverkusen 0-0 Tottenham Hotspur
Date: 18 October 2016
Venue: BayArena
Tottenham Hotspur missed the chance to go top of Group E after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Bayer Leverkusen at the BayArena.
The North London outfit were still without the services of Harry Kane, as Vincent Janssen continued to lead the line.
Spurs should have taken the lead after 27 minutes through Dele Alli, but the young midfielder headed wide of the upright from close range.
The visitors went even closer in the 38th minute when Janssen rattled the crossbar with a towering header, before Erick Lamela was denied by a superb save by Bernd Leno on the rebound.
Leverkusen, meanwhile, were on the back foot for most of the opening stanza, and failed to carve out any clear-cut openings in the final third.
The hosts thought they might have had the ball in the back of the net shortly after the break, however Goal-line technology revealed the whole ball did not cross the line.
Both sides opted for a change for the final 20 minutes, as Spurs introduced Moussa Sissoko, while Leverkusen brought on Tin Jedvaj.
Leverkusen had a chance to go ahead after 85 minutes, but Stefan Kiessling somehow placed his effort wide of the mark from six-yards out.
Nonetheless, the score remained goalless at the full-time whistle, as both earned a share of the spoils. While Leverkusen remain winless in the group.
