Two-Goal Cristiano Ronaldo Snubbed In UEFA Champions League Team Of The Week

Despite his two goals against APOEL on Wednesday night, Cristiano Ronaldo was snubbed for WhoScored's UEFA Champions League Team of the Week. Find out here, who made it instead of him.

Click through the gallery above to see which 11 players were selected for WhoScored.com's UCL Team of the Week.

There were a total of 54 goals scored in the 16 fixtures of the first UCL game week, and the standout results were FC Barcelona beating last season's finalists Juventus 3-0, Chelsea smashing new boys Qarabag 6-0 and Tottenham Hotspur brushing aside Borussia Dortmund 3-1 at Wembley.

AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson was standout No. 1 in the first round of the competition, and with a rating of 7.8 the Brazilian's performance earned his team a valuable point against La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid.

Manchester United's Ashley Young (rating: 8.5), Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos (rating 8.5), Manchester City's John Stones (Rating 9.9), who was the week's highest rated defender, and Bayern Munich's Rafinha (rating 7.9) were selected in the back four.

Lionel Messi's two goals against Italian champions Juventus saw him receive a rating of 9.7, and the Argentine was picked in this week's midfield, along with Atletico's Saul Niguez (rating: 9.7), Benfica's Andrija Zivkovic (rating: 8.9) and Bayern's Thiago Alcantara (rating: 9.4).

Leading the line is Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane (rating: 9.6) and Paris Saint-Germain's Edinson Cavani, who received a score of 9.3.

Ronaldo, meanwhile, only received a 8.68 rating, which wasn't good enough to be selected among the forwards, despite picking up the Man of the Match award in his side's clash with APOEL.
