Real Madrid's Toni Kroos Admits It's Going To Be 'Weird' Facing Sergio Ramos In UEFA Champions League

Real Madrid's Toni Kroos Admits It's Going To Be 'Weird' Facing Sergio Ramos In UEFA Champions League

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has made a moving admission about Sergio Ramos ahead of his side's round of 16 clash with Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League next month.

In mid-December, UEFA drew the first phase of knockout matches for the 2021/22 edition of the UCL. Due to a software error made by European football's governing body, it saw Manchester United left out of part of the draw and matched up with PSG.

A redraw then to take place, with the Parisians' next opponents confirmed to be the record holders of the European competition, Real.

This tussle between Europe's mightiest teams is rife with subplots, from Kylian Mbappe's expected participation ahead of his potential future move to Los Blancos to Lionel Messi being set to go up against his former Spanish rivals.

Then there is Sergio Ramos, Real' most decorated captain who left the Santiago Bernabeu after 16 sensational years to play at the Parc des Princes following a fallout during contract negotiations last year.

Speaking ahead of the knockout round, Kroos admitted it will be strange to go up against his ex-skipper.

"He wasn't just a teammate, he was my captain," he told TVE

"It's going to be a little weird to play against him."

This will be a repeat of their round of 16 clash in the 2017/18 campaign, when Los Blancos won 5-2 over the two legs.
