Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has slammed Manchester City's Yaya Toure for his woeful performances against big teams like FC Barcelona.

Toure, as well as most of the City squad, was once again outclassed by Barcelona as they exited the Champions League at the last 16 stage for the second year in a row, and Neville suggests it might be time to sell the African.
"You can't play with Yaya Toure in midfield as a two anymore, there's too much evidence in big matches now over a lengthy period of time to suggest that he's not capable of doing that," he told the Champions League Podcast.
"I still think that going forward in a three or in front as a No 10, he can be a big player for Man City, but not as one of those two defensive midfield players against opposition like Liverpool or Barcelona when you don't have possession.
"Do they move on the likes of Toure? Or do they think no, Toure is a fantastic player but we won't play him three games a week.
"We can bring somebody else who can take his role on a Wednesday night so Toure has more energy for nights like this."
Neville also hit out at City boss Pellegrini as well as the club's overall transfer policy.
"The way Man City have operated you think (Pellegrini) will come under enormous pressure," he added.
"He's not in control of signings. The signings over the last two-and-a-half years have not been good enough.
"I think the finger will be pointed upwards as well as downwards at Pellegrini. It's easy to blame the head coach and he'll be the one who takes the flak for it."
