Bayern Munich attacker Arjen Robben slammed the poor refereeing in the game after his club's 4-2 loss to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.
Ronaldo Nets Hat-Trick To Send Real Into UCL Semi-Finals
Bayern fans were left furious when midfielder Arturo Vidal picked up a second yellow card after a tackle in the quarter-final clash, with replays showing that the Chilean had won the ball cleanly.
This decision was made worse by the fact that Los Blancos midfielder Casemiro was still on the field after making a number of late challenges throughout the clash.
Robben, who was one of the many disappointed people at the Santiago Bernabeu after the match, insisted that games that big should not be decided by one man with a whistle.
"You know, in my opinion, it's a shame because you see such a great game," he told ViaSat.
"Everyone in the world saw two great teams against each other with great players on the pitch.
"It was a joy to watch. Then a game like that is being decided by the crucial decisions of a referee.
"I don't like talking about referees but you always have to look at yourself and the mistakes you make or what you have done wrong. In this case, it wasn't one, it's more, and crucial decisions decide games.
"It was a great advertisement for football and then it's being decided by someone with a whistle."
