The 17-year-old came off the bench for the Blaugrana despite a much-changed line-up against Inter Milan, and scored a late winner in his team's 2-1 win.

Despite stars such as Lionel Messi, who did not even travel to Italy, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, Gerard Pique and Marc-Andre ter Stegen not starting, Barcelona ended up victorious and sent Inter into the UEFA Europa League.

The Italians needed a win or to match Borussia Dortmund's result to secure second spot in Group F, but their defeat and BVB's 2-1 victory over Slavia Praha means the German team booked their spot in the last 16.

Fati netted the much-celebrated winner to send Inter packing, making him the youngest goalscorer in Champions League history.

The Guinea-Bissau-born starlet, who has opted to represent Spain at international level, scored that strike at the age of 17 years and 40 days.

As a consequence, he broke the previous record set by Peter Ofori-Quaye by 155 days, with the former Ajax Cape Town youth product scoring at the age of 17 years and 195 day in Olympiacos' 5-1 defeat to Rosenborg in 1997.
