R766m Signing Confirms Desire To Leave Barca

Vitor Roque (left) has confirmed his desire to leave Barcelona.

A player who joined Barcelona for €40 million (R766 million) this year has confirmed he wants to leave the club.

After arriving at the Spanish giants from Athletico Paranaense in January, Brazilian striker Vitor Roque was tipped to become an important player for the Blaugrana.

Nicknamed "Tigrinho", the young forward showed exciting promise in Brazil and had been on the radar of several top clubs in Europe before choosing to sign for the Catalan outfit.

However, he found regular game time difficult to come by under Xavi Hernandez before, with encouragement from his agent, he pushed to leave the club ahead of this season.

Roque went on to join Real Betis on loan, and the LALIGA outfit will have the opportunity to land his signature permanently at the end of the campaign should he do enough to impress.

"I'm very happy here. My family, who have been through difficult times, also smile with me," he told ABC de Sevilla.

"I spent six or seven months not smiling and I had difficult times there, but that has already happened. I'm here and happy. That's the most important thing."

Asked whether or not he would like to continue at Betis beyond this term, the 19-year-old confirmed it is an option he would be more than open to.

"The truth is that it doesn't depend on me. I'm looking forward to playing here at Betis. I would like it very much. I've talked to my parents about it. Life is good here and I would love to play more here," he added.

Roque has scored one goal in seven matches for Betis so far this season, after netting twice in 16 appearances for Barcelona in the first half of this year.
