EURO 2024: UEFA Decide Bellingham Punishment?

EURO 2024: UEFA Decide Bellingham Punishment?

Jude Bellingham's likely punishment for his controversial goal celebration at the 2024 UEFA European Championship has reportedly been revealed.

German publication Bild claims Europe's football governing body is likely to fine the 21-year-old Real Madrid star instead of suspending him for any games at EURO 2024.

The talented midfielder came under scrutiny for a gesture he made following his extraordinary bicycle-kick goal in added time against Slovakia, a goal that preceded Harry Kane's match-winning header in extra-time.

Bellingham wrote on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that his celebration was an inside joke between him and his friends, although the matter was investigated by UEFA anyway.

Bild says it is expected that the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League winner will be handed a five-figure fine for his actions, which involved him gesturing near his private parts.

Initially, reports had suggested Bellingham's celebration was directed at Slovakia's players on the bench, but this was denied by the former Borussia Dortmund player.

Slovakia were said to have opted to decide against making an official complaint against England's No. 10, who has scored twice so far at the tournament in Germany.

The Three Lions will go up against Switzerland in the quarter-final round this weekend.
