A new Barcelona signing has said that "it is nobody's business" that he smokes cigarettes.
Following the recent injury to captain and first-choice goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, the Catalan giants jumped at the opportunity to sign Wojciech Szczesny on a free.
The 34-year-old had actually retired from football at the end of last season after a seven-year spell at Juventus, but decided to accept the approach from the Blaugrana on a one-year deal.
For most of his senior career, it has been known that Szczesny is a smoker, with the Pole having been pictured smoking on numerous occasions over the years.
In a recent interview, the former Arsenal shot-stopper and Poland international stated that his habit is should not be anyone else's concern.
"Smoking? There are aspects of my personal life that I don't change, and it's nobody's business if I smoke," he told Mundo Deportivo.
"I don't smoke in front of kids, I don't give a bad example. But people take pictures of me smoking behind trees, where I can't even see them... I try to hide it, not show to people.
"If anyone thinks they can change my personal life, try again, it has never worked!"
Initially joining Juve in 2017 as back-up to the legendary Gianluigi Buffon, Szczesny later established himself as the club's No. 1 and went on to make 252 appearances for the Bianconeri.
At international level, meanwhile, he achieved an impressive 84 caps for Poland, featuring in two FIFA World Cups.
Several of his new teammates at Barcelona will be in action for Spain when they take on Denmark in the UEFA Nations League on Saturday, including Lamine Yamal and Pedri.
The 2024 UEFA European Champions currently trail Denmark by two points in Group D.
