Serie A Report: Roma 3-0 Chievo 18 October

Serie A Result: AS Roma 3-0 Chievo Verona Date: 18 October 2014 Venue: Stadio Olimpico AS Roma kept themselves in the hunt for the Scudetto with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Chievo Verona in a Serie A encounter in Rome on Saturday. The Giallorossi wasted little time to take the lead as they made it 1-0 within the first four minutes of the clash. They won a corner when Maicon overlapped down the right before forcing Dainelli into a save. The set piece picked out Mattia Destro in the area and he nodded home from close range. Roma continued to boss the game and were two clear in the 25th minute thanks to some individual brilliance from Serbian winger Adem Ljajic. He drifted in from the right-hand side uncontested before thumping across Bardi and into the back of the Chievo net. The visitors' defensive woes continued when they conceded a penalty in the 33rd minute. Dainelli was outsmarted by Daniele De Rossi in the box which resulted in the defender pulling at the Roma player's shirt. Roma legend Francesco Totti stepped up and slotted the spot-kick with a stunning strike into the top right corner of Bardi's goal. After the 3-0 drubbing of the first half, Chievo tightened up their defenses after the break and were able to shut down Roma much more effectively. They did, however, struggle to create anything of significance moving forward and the hosts continued to dominate the possession stakes. The visitors seemed to run out of steam towards the end of the game and Roma were content to cruise home for a well-deserved three points.
