Result: Napoli 0-1 Juventus
Date: 01 December 2017
Venue: San Paolo
Gonzalo Higuain scored against his former club as Juventus recorded a 1-0 win over Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo on Friday evening.
Juve got off to a promising start and nearly went ahead after four minutes but Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina produced a good save to deny Higuain from close range after some good work by Douglas Costa.
The visitors broke the deadlock after 12 minutes as Paulo Dybala played a fine pass into Higuain, who showed his composure to slot a low effort past Reina, 0-1.
Four minutes later, Napoli went close to levelling matters through Lorenzo Insigne, who blazed over the crossbar from the edge of the box before Kwadwo Asamoah cleared Marek Hamsik's strike away from goal.
There was a good tempo to the first half with both sides showing their attacking intent, although Napoli were finding it tough to break down Juve's defence.
Nevertheless, the score remained 1-0 in the away side's favour as the teams entered the halftime break.
Napoli came out firing in the second half as the likes of Dries Mertens and Jose Callejon went close to scoring inside the opening 10 minutes.
In the 68th minute, Juve nearly doubled their advantage against the run of play but Reina produced a superb save to deny Blaise Matuidi from close range.
With just 12 minutes remaining in the second half, Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri withdrew Insigne for Algerian striker, Adam Ounas.
The hosts pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages of the encounter, but Juve managed to hold out until the final whistle to claim three points.
