According to the Daily Mail, there is a reluctance from the Portuguese tactician to extend his contract with AS Roma.
The Giallorossi's erractic start to the campaign has not helped matters, and it is believed the 60-year-old is only staying at the Stadio Olimpico out of pride and not because he is enthusiastic about his job.
It is said the worry for chiefs at Fulvio Bernardini is that should the Setubal native opt against renewing his contract with the club, they would no longer have the pull in the transfer market they have enjoyed since the two-time UEFA Champions League winner arrived.
The same report also claims Roma fear that the likes of Rui Patricio, Romelu Lukaku, Paulo Dybala, Rasmus Kristensen, Leonardo Spinazzola, Sardar Azmoun and Diego Llorente will look to leave the Italian capital if Mourinho were to depart.
The three-time Scudetto winners would consequently need to have a more youth-focused transfer policy, especially if they are unable to qualify for the Champions League yet again.
