Henrikh Mkhitaryan enjoyed a fine start to the Premier League this season, having registered five assists and one goal in his opening five league games.
The Armenina International had a falling out with Mourinho in September after the player's form had dropped, and the pair argued over one of the midfielder's performances in a league game, according to EPSN FC.
Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Inter Milan are keen on adding the midfielder to their squad once the January transfer window opens.
The same report says that the Serie A giants have made contact with United about a loan move for Mkhitaryan with an option for a permanent move next season.
