Coppa Italia

Result: Juventus 0-0 AC Milan (1-1 on aggregate)

Date: 12 June 2020

Venue: Allianz Stadium

Juventus progressed to the Coppa Italia final on the away goals, while Cristiano Ronaldo endured a disappointing evening after missing a penalty.

Maurizio Sarri went for a front-three of Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala and Douglas Costa as Gonzalo Higuain dropped to the bench. Meanwhile, Milan were without Zlatan Ibrahimovic through injury.

Juventus held the upper hand heading into the second leg after securing an away goal in their 1-1 first-leg draw in February.

The hosts got off to a lively start, with Costa flashing a low strike just wide while Dybala went close with a free-kick in the opening 10 minutes.

Milan were then awarded a penalty on 15 minutes after the referee had spotted a handball on the Video Assistant Referee monitor.

The sequence that followed was quite bizarre as Ronaldo struck his penalty against the upright and while Milan attempted to embark on a counter after the miss, Ante Rebic was shown a straight for a dangerous challenge Danilo.

It was one-way traffic after Milan were reduced to 10 men but Juventus were finding it difficult to get the breakthrough as Blaise Matuidi was denied by Milan shot-stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma after 30 minutes.

Neither side could find the breakthrough in the latter stages of the half, but Milan went close in the opening five minutes of the second stanza through Hakan Çalhanoglu, who headed wide from close range.

It was the first game back since March, so it was no surprise to see Juventus coach make three changes on the hour mark as Adrien Rabiot, Sami Khedira and Federico Bernardeschi at the expense of Dybala, Costa and Matuidi.

Milan had another opportunity to go ahead in the with 12 minutes remaining but defender Simon Kjaer directed his wide of the near post after losing his marker.

However, the visitors were unable to find the all-important winner in the closing stages as Juventus advance to the final thanks to away goal in the first leg.
