Greenwood To 'Ditch' England To Represent Another Country

Striker Mason Greenwood will reportedly ditch England and switch international allegiance to a new country.

The former Manchester United striker previously represented England at youth level while he only has one cap for the senior side.

With Greenwood now regularly playing football since last season, he wants to get back in the international set up.

According to the Sun, the Olympique Marseille striker has begun the process of switching allegiance to play for Jamaica.

The Jamaican national team are under new management after former Man United assistant coach Steve McClaren was appointed to the head coach role last month.

The report adds that the Jamaican Football Federation have approached the English Football Association with request to transfer his international registration.

Greenwood marked his Ligue 1 debut with a brace last weekend and Marseille coach Roberto de Zerbi feels he has put an end to the controversy in his life.

"How far can Mason Greenwood go with me? I don't know. He has to keep training like he does. Mason Greenwood is a serious boy, and we are all satisfied with him as a player, and as a person. He has a huge margin of improvement," De Zerbi said, as per Goal.

"Greenwood is simply exceptional. He is an excellent player, and it shows. I am happy to see him score to put an end to all the controversy in the media."
