Reports over the weekend revealed that Real were willing to let Bale leave for free, and that the Welshman had agreed terms over a move to China.
According to the Daily Telegraph, the 30-year old was set to join Jiangsu Suning, where he would have become the world's highest-paid player on a deal of £1 million (R17 million) a week.
That transfer has now collapsed, however, after Real president Florentino Perez blocked the proposed move as he wants to recover a transfer fee for the former Tottenham Hotspur star.

Los Blancos paid a then-world record fee of £85 million (R1.5 billion) to sign Bale from Spurs in 2013, and the club is reportedly unwilling to let him go for nothing.
Bale's camp is said to be "furious" at the club's decision, particularly after manager Zinedine Zidane made it clear the forward has no future at the club.
The Chinese transfer window closes on Wednesday and, with no other suitors lining up to match Real's demands, Bale looks set to remain in Madrid.
