AS claim Ceballos will be allowed to leave Real for around £44 million (R781 million), while other reports in Spain suggest the player could be close to a move.
It was recently suggested that Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has spoken personally with the six-time Spain international, who represented Spain's side at the U21 European Championship over the last month.
Ceballos could join the Lilywhites on loan in this window, though his deal could include an option to buy at the end of the next campaign.
