Reports: FC Barcelona & Real Madrid Want Virgil Van Dijk & Jurgen Klopp

A shock report has suggested that Spanish rivals FC Barcelona and Real Madrid will go head to head to sign both Virgil van Dijk and manager Jurgen Klopp from Liverpool in a move that would shake up the footballing world.

After their Uefa Champions League success last season, Liverpool are trying to go one better in the Premier League this time out having won all five of their matches so far in the new campaign.

This weekend, the Reds opened up a five-point gap on champions Manchester City, who suffered a surprise defeat away at Norwich City on Saturday night. Earlier that day, Liverpool beat Newcastle United 3-1 at Anfield to maintain their perfect start.

However, a spanner could be thrown into the works as two of the biggest clubs in Spain, Barca and Real, are reportedly looking to stir the pot by making a swoop for both the Meyseysiders' star centre-back and manager.

According to AS, the Catalan giants and Los Blancos are eyeing moves for Van Dijk and Klopp, two incredibly key figures in the Liverpool dressing room

After joining the club from Southampton in 2018,  28-year-old Van Dijk has firmly established himself as one of the best defenders in the world, winning last season's Premier League Player of the Season award and the 2018/19 Uefa Men's Player of the Year prize.

Meanwhile, with manager Zinedine Zidane coming under scrutiny at Real and questions marks still around Ernesto Valverde's tenure at the Camp Nou, Klopp is said to be seen as the ideal replacement for both managers.

Messi Addresses Shock Contract Situation

The German manager has turned Liverpool into one of the most attractive football sides in the world since his arrival at Anfield in 2015, but whether or not he would be tempted to manage one of Spain's biggest clubs remains to be seen.
