James Rodriguez was the latest Los Blancos star to leave the Santiago Bernabeu. While reports in England suggest that Real received about €25 million (R495 million) from Everton for his signature, Transfermarkt has claimed he left the club on a free transfer, with the LaLiga side including a sell-on clause in the agreement.
The club was seemingly desperate to get the Colombian off their wage bill, and have a similar situation with Gareth Bale. The Welshman still has two years left on his whopping contract, but is not in manager Zinedine Zidane's plans going forward.
According to Marca, Bale is one of four Real stars who the club still want to sell in this window.
The others are Mariano Diaz, whose transfer to Benfica reportedly collapsed due to his wage demands, Borja Mayoral and Sergio Reguilon.
Mayoral is believed to have been targeted by Lazio, Valencia and Marseille, while Reguilon has many clubs interested in his services.

Sevilla are said to be keen to take him on loan again after he helped them win the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League and secure qualification for the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League, but Los Blancos are understood to be intent on selling the left-back outright.
Manchester United were said to be close to agreeing a transfer for the player, but the Spanish giants' insistence on a buyback clause brought talks to a hold. Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan and Juventus are reportedly also interested in the 23-year-old.
