Real Madrid Tell Ancelotti Replacement To 'Get Ready'

Real Madrid Tell Ancelotti Replacement To 'Get Ready'

Carlo Ancelotti could reportedly be facing the sack at Real Madrid.

Real Madrid have reportedly asked the man they have lined up to potentially replace Carlo Ancelotti to "get ready" after the team's loss to Liverpool on Wednesday.

After yet another defeat, this time against Liverpool at Anfield, Real have reportedly asked their former coach and current club ambassador Santiago Solari to prepare himself to take over first-team duties if the club decides to part ways with Ancelotti before the season ends.

The news follows a third defeat in five matches across all competitions, with Ancelotti overseeing Real Madrid's worst start to the Champions League group stage in history – three defeats in the opening five games.

"They tell me from inside the club that, for the past few weeks, they've asked Solari to be prepared, which has reached Ancelotti and clearly annoyed him," Roberto Morales said on El Partidazo on Cadena COPE.

"I don't know where this comes from, but I had a coffee with someone important, and they told me Solari had been warned."

Ancelotti led Real Madrid to a La Liga and Champions League double in the 2023/24 season, but has struggled to adapt the team following the arrival of Kylian Mbappe and the retirement of Toni Kroos.

While Los Blancos remain second in La Liga, they find themselves languishing in 24th place in the Champions League standings.

Solari, who has coached Real Madrid at various levels, including the under-19s, Castilla (the B team), and the first team, is no stranger to the senior role.

In 2018/19, he was appointed after Julen Lopetegui's sacking, managing the first team for the remaining 32 matches before Zinedine Zidane's return.
