Ancelotti Admits Real Madrid Superstar Is 'Not Happy'

Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that one of Real Madrid's most high-profile players is currently unhappy with his situation at the club.

While Los Blancos have played just two matches in LALIGA so far this season, the lack of minutes given to Croatian midfielder Luka Modric has already become a talking point in Spain.

The 37-year-old came off the bench in both of Real's victories over Athletic Bilbao and Almeria, with Jude Bellingham having impressed in his first two league starts.

Ancelotti appears to have preferred a more youthful engine room since the campaign got underway, but that, according to the Italian, does not mean Modric is considered unimportant to his plans.

Speaking this week about the legendary Croatia international's situation in Madrid, the manager admitted, though, that the playmaker is frustrated with his lack of game time so far in this campaign.

"He's not happy he's not playing, it's very strange to see Luka not playing but he'll have minutes," Ancelotti said, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

"For sure. He will help us during the season."

Modric was linked with a switch to Saudi Arabia at the end of last season before he committed to another 12 months in the Spanish capital.
