During the recent transfer window, Nkota and Mokwana became the latest former Premier Soccer League players to secure moves to wealth-laden Saudi Arabia. Nkota signed for Al Ettifaq, while Mokwana recently completed a season-long loan to Al Hazem.

Now, according to AfricaFoot, ex-Sundowns defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil is on the verge of completing a move to the star-studded Saudi top flight.

While it has not yet been revealed which club the Moroccan will be joining, the same report claims he is expected to undergo a medical in the coming hours as he looks to finalise his switch.

After leaving Ka Bo Yellow at the end of the 2023/24 campaign, the 27-year-old reunited with former coach Rulani Mokwena at Wydad Athletic Club.

Although he featured regularly for the Red Castle, his performances at the FIFA Club World Cup reportedly soured his spell in Casablanca. He went on to terminate his contract, even forfeiting the €75 000 (R1.5 million) remaining on the deal.

It is understood that Botola Pro Inwi side Kawkab Marrakech were keen to keep him in Morocco, while interest also came from Russia and the Gulf. However, Boutouil appears to have been lured by the riches of Saudi Arabia.
