Top Goalscorers In 2016 Revealed

8) Sergio Aguero (Man City & Argentina) – 30 goals

Lionel Messi is the best goalscorer of the calendar year, clearly outscoring the likes of Luis Suarez and Cristiano Ronaldo in 2016 so far.

The Argentine leads the ranking with 51 goals (44 for FC Barcelona and seven for Argentina), but is still far off his 91-goal record from 2012.

His teammate Suarez has scored as many club goals as Messi in 2016, but four less for his national team Uruguay.

Ronaldo follows in third spot but has overall only scored as many goals as Messi has for his club alone - 33 for Real Madrid and 11 with Portugal.

Gonzalo Higuain and Antoine Griezmann sit with 35 strikes in joint fourth place, one ahead of Bayern Munich and Poland striker Robert Lewandowski.

Zlatan Ibrahimovich, who recently experienced a slump of six Premier League games without scoring, has netted 33 times for Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United, but failed to add any goals for Sweden before retiring this year.
