The competition between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi could well have come to an end after the Portuguese star moved from Real Madrid to Serie A giants Juventus, according to FC Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde.

The two stars, who have each won five Ballon d'Or trophies, are considered by most to be the best players in the world, with some even suggesting they are the best to have ever played the game.
Barca boss Valverde believes the Ronaldo-Messi rivalry may truly be over now that Ronaldo is playing his football in Italy, and is interested to see how the former Manchester United winger's absence will affect Los Blancos this season.
"Ronaldo leaving would seem to have ended the competition between Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo because people rarely mention one without mentioning the other," the Blaugrana head coach told Barcelona's official magazine.
"A lot of people are interested, me too, to see how it will affect Real Madrid's football and what they might do in the transfer market.
"Also, knowing that Ronaldo is at another club and what that might mean for LaLiga and the Champions League too."
