Reports have suggested Ronaldo could cost Juve €100 million (R1.5 billion) in today's market, which would make him the most expensive player in Serie A history.
The current holder of that title is Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain, who signed for the Italian giants for £81 million (R1.46 billion) in 2016 from league rivals Napoli. Second in the ranking is retired Argentina striker Hernan Crespo, who signed for Lazio for £51.13 million (R927 million) in 2000.
Italy legend Gianluigi Buffon is third with his £47.6 million (R863 million) move from Parma to Juve in 2001, while Gaizka Mendieta's transfer to Lazio for £43.2 million (R783 million), also in 2001, follows in fourth place.
Fifth is former journeyman Christian Vieri, who joined Inter Milan for £41.83 million (R758 million) in 1999. The Italian represented 13 different teams in his career, and played 49 times for the Azzurri, scoring 23 goals.
Leonardo Bonucci's 2017 switch from Juve to AC Milan for £37.8 million (R685 million) comes in at sixth place, which, according to Transfermarkt, is also what the same club paid for Rui Costa in 2001.

The eighth most expensive deal of all time in Serie A is Lillian Thuram's 2001 transfer to the Bianconeri for £37.35 million (R677 million), while Joao Cancelo's move to the Bianconeri at a price of £36.36 million (R659 million) this month follows in ninth place. Douglas Costa comes in at 10th following his permanent move to Juve for £36 million (R653 million) in this window.
