Mendes is widely known as one of the sport's most successful men off the pitch, and not only because of his successful working relationship with one of the best players of all time in Ronaldo.
The Portuguese representative has built his empire through his GestiFute agency, and has been able to attract many high-profile names to sign on his books, although it could probably be assumed that it is Ronaldo who has brought him the majority of his income as an agent.
Also on Mendes' books is former Real Madrid and Manchester United manager Mourinho, although their relationship has not always been as healthy as one might think.
In 2018, the superagent put out a statement denying his client was on the verge of an exit from the Red Devils, to which Mourinho publicly responded by saying he did not care about it.
Mendes also has new Everton signing James Rodriguez signed up to GestiFute, as well as Argentine superstar Angel Di Maria. Coincidentally, the Paris Saint-Germain winger felt he was kicked out of Los Blancos in 2014 as the club successfully looked to replace him with Rodriguez.
While contract negotiations and transfer talks are, of course, done professionally between clubs and agents, it is perhaps strange to imagine that Mendes was ultimately the man who finalised both Di Maria's exit from Real as well as Rodriguez's move to Madrid, despite the former's unhappiness with the situation.
